![]() ![]() The relationship between characters is dull. Its rare to read a novel which discourage the potential of an mc. MC is a good soldier and is even feared at his place and his action was great fighting other enemies but this story always insist that mc has no potential or mc is useless. ![]() MC potential? so shallow I was excited by the intro which claim if MC would be a demon or a saint but so far that was baseless. The plot? so far all I know mc want revenge then period. I have yet to read all so this one is based on the chapter I read. Last updated on October 23rd, 2016, 4:33pmĪfter reading chapter 20 I am so sleepy right now *yawn* And all of his victories don't feel like bullshit, but rather the eventual result from a long process. He does get lucky, but his luck is well earned, as it's the combined result of hard work, intelligence, and his social/political connection. He's also extremely determined, but in smart way: He knew when to stop. He just had a way with words and it's just very satisfying when he "put down" people with mere words. ![]() The protagonist is one of the wittiest protagonist I've ever seen. Certain battles even became a literal battle of words (the choice of verse determines the strength and attribute of the spells), rather than sheer violence. The story also gets very philosophical later on, with a lot of quotes taken/modified from Buddhism and Taoism. (to name a few: MC's cultivation, MC's calligraphy hobby, MC's revenge, the maid, MC's reincarnationetc.). Many plot points are left unexplored until hundreds of chapters later. However, the pacing of this story is slow, very slow (it has 1000+ chapters). Needless to say, after the first few twist, you'll always be on your feet to know the consequences from the events. Nope, they will all bite him in the ass in the future. ![]()
